Niki Terpstra has decided to take on a new challenge in his career: next season he will be racing with Team Direct Energie’s colours. This decision follows eight fantastic years with Quick-Step, during which he won two monuments (Paris-Roubaix in 2014 and this year’s Tour of Flanders) and two Dutch national road race titles – among a large number of other great wins and big results.
The move to Direct Energie represents everything the Dutch rider wants for his career at the moment: a new environment with new people and new goals. He wants to keep fighting for the classics, show his attacking spirit and help his new team grow to another level. Direct Energie’s ambitious plans for the team and for himself made the decision a no-brainer at the end of the day.
“I dream of giving Direct Energie a prestigious win at a big classic”, says Niki. “And especially to deliver a stage win at the Tour de France. I have been shooting for it, so joining a French team might be the click.”
We are excited to see Niki embrace this new challenge and we are pretty sure he will keep on thriving as a world class rider.
