Stephen Williams is steadily working his way back towards full fitness after a challenging period with a persistent knee injury. After undergoing surgery, the Welsh rider is now in a structured and long-term recovery process in collaboration with SEG Performance and supported by NSN Cycling Team. “We’re doing everything possible to get me back on the bike as soon as possible.”
Over the past weeks, Stevie has been rehabbing intensively at SEG Performance in Amsterdam, where he is following a carefully designed daily programme. Each day starts with treatment, followed by mobility work, strength training and a cardio session. Alongside this, he is gradually spending more time on the bike to rebuild condition and confidence.
A key factor in Stevie’s recovery has been the expert guidance from the team at SEG Performance. He is working intensively with their physiotherapists under the supervision of renowned performance coach Arno Philips. The medical staff of Stevie’s team, NSN Cycling Team, bring their own expertise into the process and remain in constant contact with Arno and his team. All parties share one clear goal: to get Stevie back on the road competing for wins.
“I’ve put in a lot of hard work in Amsterdam”, Stevie says. “It’s a slow process and it’s difficult to see day-to-day results, but when I step back and see the bigger picture, I definitely see improvement. I’m in the battle every day.”
“The SEG Performance team has been brilliant. I can’t thank everybody enough for the guidance and help. I’m also grateful for all the support from NSN Cycling Team, it means a lot to feel that backing throughout this process. The collaboration and trust between NSN and SEG Performance has been great. I am confident that we’re doing everything possible to get me back on the bike as soon as possible.”
There is no fixed date for Stevie’s return to racing, but if his progress continues like this, fans can look forward to seeing him return to the peloton stronger and fully pain-free.
