SEG RACING ACADEMY IS BACK

SEG Racing Academy, the renowned development branch of talent agency SEG Cycling, is making a spectacular comeback. After a successful run from 2015 to 2021, the Academy returns this January with a fresh approach, focusing on U17 and U19 riders.

The new programme is based on personal development and knowledge-sharing, and supports talents on multiple fronts: physical, technical, mental, nutritional and personal. SEG Racing Academy has partnered with three leading cycling clubs in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany which have an outstanding track record in developing cycling talent: Acrog-Tormans, Goudenbad-Parkhotel Development Team and German Junior Racing. Riding and training with these clubs, the young riders can grow their talent and learn from experienced riders.

To be able to offer the highest quality support, SEG Racing Academy collaborates with leading industry partners such as TrainingsPeaks, Strava, BrainsFirst, Zwift, React and Talent Academy Group. Furthermore, the juniors are welcome to visit the new CyclingLab at SEG headquarters in Amsterdam, which provides a range of services and tools for testing and monitoring progress. The talents are also encouraged to follow webinars on topics such as bike setup, race strategies, nutrition, mental coaching and much more. These webinars are hosted by cycling experts and SEG Racing Academy alumni.

Additionally, SEG Racing Academy will invite top talents (m/f) from around the world and across various cycling disciplines to join an exclusive scholarship programme. This initiative offers guidance from professional riders and cycling experts, as well as physical and mental assessments and data analysis. SEG Cycling will work together with these top talents to craft a strategic plan for the next stage of their careers, explore all available opportunities and offer help in securing the best possible contracts.

SEG Cycling director Eelco Berkhout said: “Between 2015 and 2021, the Academy significantly professionalised cycling talent development. We had real impact. 36 riders made the leap from the Academy to the pro ranks, including Jordi Meeus, Fabio Jakobsen, Cees Bol, Stevie Williams, Thymen Arensman, Kaden Groves, Edoardo Affini and Daan Hoole. We are now reviving SEG Racing Academy because we remain passionate at helping talented riders reach the top. The difference is that we now focus on younger talent: U17 and U19s. SEG Racing Academy gives them the opportunity to develop as a rider and gain invaluable experience. We are confident that we will be able to help some of them reach the pro ranks.”
