SEG brings Sofyan Amrabat to Manchester United on Deadline Day

In the final hours of the summer transfer window SEG succeeded in sealing a deal that brings defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat to Manchester United on a one-year loan from Fiorentina with an option to buy. Negotiations were conducted on behalf of Sofyan by SEG board member Kees Vos, and the paperwork was concluded with the help of SEG’s legal team.

The Dutch-Moroccan defensive midfielder was one of the standout players at the World Cup in Qatar, where he helped Morocco reach the semi-final. He also performed brilliantly for Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final against West Ham United. And has since attracted plenty of interest from top European clubs.

Although there were talks with several clubs, Sofyan’s mind was set on a move to his dream club Manchester United. The negotiations gained momentum in the last week of the transfer window, resulting in a perfect deal for all parties involved.

Kees Vos: “After the successful World Cup Sofyan was up for a new challenge in his career. But he had to be patient and wait for the summer. The last weeks and days of August have been quite a rough ride, ending in a truly memorable transfer. I am delighted SEG was able to make Sofyan’s dream come true.”

Sofyan Amrabat: “It is an honour to represent the club of my dreams. I am a passionate player; I want to bring that energy to the squad. Erik ten Hag’s coaching and guidance developed me so much as a player earlier in my career. I know exactly how he likes to work and what he needs from his players. I know that he will help to bring out the best of my abilities.”
