Rory Sutherland joins SEG Cycling as a rider agent

Effective as of 15 March, former professional cyclist Rory Sutherland embarks on a new venture as a rider agent with SEG Cycling. In this role, Rory will guide the next generation of cycling talent towards fulfilling their dreams.

Rory (42) was one of the best talents of his generation. He is part of a select group of Australians that made it big overseas. After starting his career in the World Tour in Europe with Rabobank, he was immensely successful in the USA. In 2012, Rory returned to Europe and started collaborating with SEG Cycling. This resulted in a fantastic career path that saw him race for top teams like Tinkoff-Saxo, Movistar Team and UAE Team Emirates

After ending his career as a rider with Israel-Premier Tech in 2020, he stayed with the team as part of the performance staff, simultaneously serving as a coach for the Australian Cycling team in 2021. In 2022, he joined Australian Cycling full-time as the national coach and selector. At the end of that season, he decided to take a step back from the world of cycling and focus on other activities. Rory rejoining SEG marks his return to the cycling industry.

SEG Cycling co-owner Martijn Berkhout: “Rory can look back on a very successful career on the bike, racing alongside and working for riders such as Alberto Contador, Alejandro Valverde, Nairo Quintana, Daniel Martin and Tadej Pogačar. His experience as a rider, coach and entrepreneur makes him perfect for his new role with SEG. We are delighted to welcome Rory back to the family and to join our great team of rider agents.”
