MICHAEL REIZIGER JOINS SEG

Today, SEG welcome a true icon in their midst. Michael Reiziger, former player for such clubs as AC Milan and FC Barcelona, part of the legendary Ajax generation that won the Champions League in 1995, and now a successful coach, will from now on be represented by SEG.

Michael Reiziger’s career as a player and a coach is illustrious to say the least. As a footballer, he played for top clubs in the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga. Reiziger's accolades include winning the Champions League with Ajax in 1995, the La Liga title with FC Barcelona in 1998, and a total of four national championships with Ajax and PSV in the Dutch Eredivisie.

He accumulated over 70 caps for the Netherlands national team, participating in three European Championships and one World Cup.

After retiring in 2007, Reiziger (51) started a successful coaching career. He served as an assistant to Erik ten Hag at Ajax, continuing under Schreuder and Heitinga until last summer.  He also coached Jong Ajax, and in the 2017-18 season led them to become the first second team ever to win the championship in the Eerste Divisie—a feat that has never been accomplished before or since.

Currently, Reiziger is the head coach of the Netherlands U21 team (Jong Oranje). He led the team to win all their qualification matches for the upcoming European Championship, with only one friendly loss and just two goals conceded.

SEG board member Kees Vos: "It’s an honour to welcome Michael Reiziger to SEG. He’s had a tremendous career as a player and now as a manager/coach. Everyone can feel that he breathes the ambition to pursue new successes with Jong Oranje. Proud to have you on board, Michael!"

Michael Reiziger: “I have known Kees Vos for a long time and used to play football with one of the agents, Peter de Waal. As a coach, I feel myself growing in this new role in my life. If I want to make strides in the future, I want to have people behind me who know how to guide such a process. With SEG, I know I am in good hands.”
