Mauro Schmid joins SEG and moves to Pinarello-Q36.5

The transfer is a textbook example of how SEG operates and the influence it carries across the cycling world. Mauro was looking for new management, and SEG was able to show him what it could offer. He then entrusted the agency with securing a new contract. Once SEG let the market know it was representing him, interest poured in, which is hardly surprising for a world-class rider who is having the best season of his career.

The list of suitors was soon narrowed down to a handful of teams. Pinarello-Q36.5 emerged as the strongest option, with the Swiss connection playing a major role. It is a Swiss team with Swiss sponsors, and Mauro is proud to be part of that. The move also marks a homecoming: Mauro began his professional career with the same organisation, then known as Qhubeka NextHash, and still knows people there. At Pinarello-Q36.5 he will also be reunited with team manager Doug Ryder, who gave him his professional debut in 2021. The progress riders such as Tom Pidcock have made there in recent years also counted in the team’s favour.

At Q36.5, Schmid will enjoy more freedom and a bigger leadership role. He will be a key figure in shaping the team's future.
