Giro d’Italia 2025 will go down in history as one of the most successful yet for SEG Cycling clients. The Italian Grand Tour was marked by five stage wins and a wealth of memorable performances from our riders. Here’s a recap of three unforgettable weeks.
Olav Kooij – Two sprint victories
Olav Kooij lit up the Giro with dominant sprint wins on Stage 12 and the final stage in Rome. He also added a second and third place to his tally. With three Grand Tour stage victories to his name—all in Italy—Kooij continues to rise as a top-tier sprinter.
Kaden Groves – Ninth Grand Tour stage win
Kaden Groves powered to his ninth Grand Tour stage victory with a commanding sprint through the streets of Naples on Stage 6. Throughout the race, he proved one of the most consistent finishers, placing inside the top five in every bunch sprint.
Casper van Uden – Breakthrough win
Stage 4 delivered a career-defining moment for Casper van Uden, who claimed his first Grand Tour stage win with a brilliant sprint. He nearly repeated the feat on Stage 12, finishing a close second.
Daan Hoole – Time trial triumph
Daan Hoole secured the biggest win of his career with a sensational ride in the Pisa individual time trial. After a tense wait at the finish line, his time remained unbeaten. Following his national time trial title, this marked his second—and most impressive—victory to date.
More to celebrate
SEG Cycling riders also left their mark throughout the race. Francesco Busatto wore the white jersey after a strong fourth place in Stage 1. Michael Storer claimed a hard-fought top ten in the general classification. There were podium sprints for Corbin Strong and Milan Fretin, and a strong third place in the Stage 10 time trial for Jay Vine.
Powerful lead-out work from Fabio van den Bossche, Bram Welten and Edoardo Affini contributed to multiple podiums, while attacking rides from the likes of Taco van der Hoorn and Wout Poels added flair to the race. And finally, congratulations to Edoardo Affini, Olav Kooij and Dylan van Baarle on winning the overall classification with Simon Yates and helping secure the Maglia Rosa.
