Søren Kragh Andersen signs with Lidl-Trek

9 September 2024

Søren Kragh Andersen will ride for Lidl-Trek from January 2025. The 30-year-old Dane has signed a two-year contract with the American team. SEG Cycling director Eelco Berkhout helped Kragh Andersen negotiate the deal: “Søren’s ambition is to win more races, and at Lidl-Trek he will get that opportunity. This is a great move for him.”

Søren Kragh Andersen said: “This transfer is a dream come true. Lidl-Trek is a team that invests heavily in the spring classics, grand tours and time trials. The time trial is especially a discipline I want to focus on in the future. Winning a stage in the Giro or the Vuelta next year, or a time trial, would be fantastic.”

“Eelco, my personal agent at SEG, has helped me so much in making this transfer happen. It’s a long journey from showing interest in a team to actually securing a deal, and I felt Eelco was crucial throughout that process. Alongside my family, SEG provides the best support I could ask for in my career. They stand by me in both the highs and the lows, they understand the life of a cyclist.”

SEG Cycling director Eelco Berkhout said: “Søren is a fantastic rider. At Alpecin-Deceuninck, he was part of a strong team where Van der Poel is the undisputed leader. He often did crucial work to help Mathieu win. Søren, of course, also has his own ambitions. He excels in time trials and wants to achieve more individual results. At this point in his career, another team suits these ambitions better."

“Lidl-Trek is a very innovative team. They do a lot of testing to get the most out of time trials, for example. That approach really appealed to Søren. At Lidl-Trek, he will be part of a strong spring classics team with top riders like Mads Pedersen and Jasper Stuyven. Søren can help those riders achieve victories, but he will also have the opportunity to seize his own chances. So, it's a great step to a great team, and I'm curious to see how things will turn out for him there.”
