Transfer

SEG NEGOTIATES OSCAR ONLEY’S MOVE TO INEOS GRENADIERS

15 January 2026

Talented young Scottish rider Oscar Onley has joined the INEOS Grenadiers cycling team from the beginning of the 2026 season, following an agreement with his former team, Picnic PostNL. The negotiations were handled by SEG Cycling, working closely with both teams and the rider to facilitate the transfer.

After Oscar’s impressive performance at the 2025 Tour de France, Team Picnic PostNL received multiple offers regarding his future. While the team would have preferred to retain Oscar for the remainder of his contract and beyond, an appealing offer by INEOS Grenadiers ultimately proved compelling for both the rider and the team.

The rising talent from Kelso enjoyed a breakthrough 2025 season, highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the Tour de France. At just 23 years of age, Oscar’s performance underlined his climbing qualities, mental and physical resilience, race craft and his potential to challenge the very best in the sport.

Oscar Onley said: “I am very proud of what I’ve achieved with Team Picnic PostNL and I want to thank the management for their trust and support throughout the years, and for making this transfer possible. The chance to represent the team of my home country was one I couldn’t pass up, and I’m grateful that both teams and my agents at SEG Cycling ultimately found a solution. For me, as a Brit, this really is a dream move. I’ve been a fan of INEOS Grenadiers and its predecessors ever since I was a child. I grew up watching fellow countrymen Chris Froome, Bradley Wiggins  and Geraint Thomas, who is now Director of Racing at INEOS Grenadiers, win the Tour. I’m proud to be joining the Grenadiers on a long-term deal. It makes the prospect of racing for a British team when the Tour de France departs from Scotland in 2027 even more exciting.”

SEG Cycling Director Eelco Berkhout said: “Oscar had a clear ambition, which we presented to both teams and worked through together to ultimately achieve the best possible outcome for all parties involved. At INEOS Grenadiers, Oscar will be given the opportunity to lead in Grand Tours, and of course he hopes to continue developing into one of the very best stage racers in the peloton.”
