SEG BROKERS DEAL BETWEEN BAYER LEVERKUSEN AND ERIK TEN HAG

26 May 2025

Erik ten Hag will take up the role of head coach at Bayer 04 Leverkusen as of 1 July. The 55-year-old Dutchman signed a contract today committing himself to the Bundesliga club until 30 June 2027. SEG played a key role in Ten Hag’s transfer, acting as football agent and facilitating the negotiation process.

Previously, Ten Hag achieved great success as head coach and team manager at AFC Ajax and Manchester United FC respectively. He led Ajax to three league titles, two KNVB Cups and a historic UEFA Champions League semi-final. At Manchester United, he won the League Cup and reached two FA Cup finals, winning one.

Ten Hag left Manchester United in October 2024 and has since taken time to reflect before making his next career move. He had a strong desire to take on a role at a top German club. This season, Bayer Leverkusen finished second in the Bundesliga. After winning their first-ever Bundesliga title in 2024, the club is now looking to continue its success under Ten Hag’s leadership.

SEG founder Kees Vos said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to assist Bayer 04 Leverkusen in attracting Erik ten Hag as their new head coach. Based on my conversations with Simon Rolfes, Fernando Carro and other club representatives, this truly feels like a natural fit. I look forward to witnessing this next chapter unfold and wish all parties involved the very best.”
