Pep Guardiola extends at ManCity for two years

21 November 2024

Pep Guardiola signed a new contract with Manchester City on 21 November 2024, extending his stay as manager for two years. The new deal will keep Guardiola, one of the most successful football managers in history, at the Etihad Stadium until 2027.

The extension means Guardiola will celebrate ten years at City in the summer of 2026. He won 18 trophies since he joined in 2016. The last two seasons were incredible, with City winning the Treble and becoming the first ever England men’s team to win four Premier League titles in a row.

Guardiola said Manchester City’s recent struggles contributed to his decision to sign a new contract. “With the problems we had in the last month, I felt now was not the right time to leave. Also, I enjoy being here. I like being the manager of this club. This is my ninth season here; we have experienced so many amazing times together. The hierarchy at the club is so stable, in all departments. It’s not the individuals, it’s the team, the managers, the club. I’m very proud to stay part of that.”
