NEW START FOR FABIO JAKOBSEN AT VISMA | LEASE A BIKE

The move marks a fresh start for Fabio after 18 months of physical trouble. Due to a narrowing of the blood vessels in both legs he had long been unable to reach his normal level. After surgery in April 2025, the recovery took a considerable time. Just after he had returned to the peloton misfortune struck again: in his second race he broke his collarbone in a crash.

Fabio and his agents at SEG Cycling reached an agreement with Team Picnic PostNL to end his contract early, giving him ample time to talk with other teams. Those discussions made clear that Visma | Lease a Bike had considerable faith in a future with him. Fabio sees the Dutch team as the ideal environment to rediscover his best form. He will also be reunited with several familiar faces, among them head of performance Mathieu Heijboer.

The coming months will be devoted to a gradual return to competition, with the emphasis on rebuilding Fabio’s condition and finding his place within the squad. The team intends to give him the time and structure he needs.
