Michael Reiziger extends contract with KNVB until 2027

26 May 2025

Michael Reiziger will remain with the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) for at least two more years. The contract of the KNVB coach of Jong Oranje (the Dutch men’s U21 team) has been extended until the summer of 2027.

Michael Reiziger is a former player for clubs such as AC Milan and FC Barcelona, and was part of the legendary Ajax generation that won the Champions League in 1995. Reiziger was appointed as head coach of the Dutch U21s in 2023. The 72-time international was also assistant to Ronald Koeman with the Dutch national team at Euro 2024. He is now on the eve of his first major tournament as head coach: Euro Under-21 2025.

Jong Oranje won all ten of its qualification matches and secured a spot at Euro 2025 in Slovakia with a perfect score. Reiziger’s contract extension means that he will remain with the KNVB through to Euro 2027 in Albania, for which the qualifying campaign begins in the autumn of 2025.

SEG agent Peter de Waal said: “Over the past few months, we’ve had positive and productive conversations with KNVB technical director Nigel de Jong about Michael’s future with the Dutch U21s. It’s great that everything is settled before Euro 2025 kicks off. Michael started this job two years ago, and winning the tournament with this group is now his top mission. SEG has been working with Michael for a year. We look forward to seeing what lies ahead for him and feel privileged to support him on his coaching journey.”
