Joachim Andersen signs record deal with Fulham

23 August 2024

Danish defender Joachim Andersen today signed a five-year deal with an option for an extra season at Fulham F.C. The exact transfer fee is not disclosed but is said to be the highest in the club’s history. In the negotiations, SEG founder Kees Vos acted as an intermediate between the player, Fulham and the player’s former club Crystal Palace.

Andersen (28) is a Danish professional footballer who usually plays in the heart of the defence. He also represents Denmark in their national team, with 36 caps. The Dane has had a fantastic 2023-24 season: he finished among the players with the most matches and the most minutes in the Premier League – 38 and 3,416 respectively. This will be Andersen’s second spell at Fulham – in the 2020-2021 season he played at the London club on loan from Olympique Lyon.

Joachim Andersen said: “The past few weeks have been quite eventful, to say the least. I received several approaches from different clubs and discussed my future with Crystal Palace. From the moment I first spoke to Fulham, I had a good feeling. They demonstrated their commitment by making me their priority target with their offers to both Palace and me. I'm excited to return to Craven Cottage and play for this amazing club once again. Special thanks to Kees Vos and the team of SEG for guiding me through this process, I really appreciate their help.”

SEG founder Kees Vos said: “It’s been a real rollercoaster over the last couple of weeks with lots of moving parts in the international football market. Since Joachim joined SEG, we’ve explored the pool of clubs searching for central defenders and discussed his plans with Crystal Palace. While there were several possibilities, Fulham stood out. They presented a compelling case and made a strong offer to both Joachim and Crystal Palace. I do believe that all parties involved are pleased with the outcome. I’m looking forward to seeing Joachim play at Craven Cottage.”
