Jasper Cillessen continues career at Las Palmas

30 June 2024

Jasper Cillessen has left NEC and will make a return to Spain next season. The 35-year-old goalkeeper recently signed a two-year contract with UD Las Palmas. SEG agent Kees Ploegsma helped fulfil Jasper’s dream to move back to Spain.

Las Palmas were on the lookout for a keeper and remembered Cillessen from his stint between 2016-2022, when he played for FC Barcelona and Valencia respectively. The deal was quickly finalised.

SEG has represented Cillessen since 2009, around the time he signed his first professional contract and began his career with NEC. SEG has been closely involved in every move since: from NEC to Ajax, then on to FC Barcelona, Valencia, and his return to NEC in 2022.

SEG agent and board member Kees Ploegsma commented: “Jasper came onto Las Palmas' radar because of his successful history with Barcelona and Valencia. After two solid years at NEC, this is the perfect moment for a return to Spain. Jasper is a fantastic individual and an experienced keeper who hasn’t always received the recognition he deserves in the Netherlands. It’s brilliant that he’s now back at the top level in Spain. I hope he has two terrific years ahead.”
