Extension

Erik ten Hag extends at Manchester United

4 July 2024

Erik ten Hag has extended his contract as Manchester United men’s first team manager until June 2026.

Erik ten Hag said: “I am very pleased to have reached agreement with Manchester United to continue working together. Looking back at the past two years, we can reflect with pride on two trophies and many examples of progression from where we were when I joined. However, the project is not finished yet. Despite the two trophies, we also acknowledge there is still a lot of work to do to match the required ambitions. In my discussions with Manchester United’s new football leadership team, we have found complete unity in our vision for reaching our goals, and we are all strongly committed to making that journey together.”

He continued: “I would also like to thank my management team at SEG, who have supported me in every way on this journey. Kees Ploegsma and Kees Vos have stood by me both personally and professionally. They have been pivotal in many ways, particularly in getting all parties aligned to continue this project together. I’m happy to be part of the SEG family.”

SEG board member Kees Vos said: “It’s been quite a rollercoaster ride since Erik ten Hag joined Manchester United more than two years ago, but I’m proud to have been part of it. Today, we can announce that we will continue to be part of it: Erik ten Hag will stay in the red part of town for two more years. It was and is a pleasure working with all the people involved, from past to present. SEG is proud to have assisted both Erik and the new Manchester United football leadership team in making this extension possible. I am very much looking forward to visiting Old Trafford again.”
